One of the greatest personalities in Indian film to successfully cross over to Hollywood is Priyanka Chopra.
The actress made her Hollywood music debut with her 2012 single In My City after winning over fans and critics with her creative performances in Hindi films.
While many believed that Priyanka Chopra would naturally go up Hollywood after dominating Bollywood, the actress has claimed in a recent podcast that she decided to move her base and career to the US because she was fed up with the politics in the Hindi film business and had “beef with people.”
Priyanka Chopra stated she was explaining to Dax Shepard on the podcast Armchair Expert why she made the decision to work in the US for the first time.
Dax Shepard questioned: “So how do you decide you want to even put yourself through that? ” on the podcast. What made you decide to subject yourself to it, and why did you do it? Priyanka said, “I’ve never said this so I’m going to say it because you’ll make me feel safe.”
I was forced into a corner in the industry (Bollywood), she said while discussing the circumstances behind her relocation to Hollywood.
People weren’t casting me, I had problems with people, and since I’m not very good at the game, I was kind of sick of politics and announced that I wanted a vacation.
Anjula Acharia of Desi Hits, who is currently Priyanka Chopra’s manager, spotted the actress in a video around this time and got in touch with her, according to the actress. Priyanka Chopra was currently filming Vishal Bharadwaj’s Saat Khoon Maaf.
Anjali asked about Priyanka Chopra’s desire in pursuing a music career in the US after mentioning that she had heard the actress’ demo. The opportunity, the actress said came just as she was seeking for opportunities outside of Bollywood.
“This music thing gave me the chance to go into another part of the world, not crave for the films I didn’t want to buy, but I would require to schmooze certain clubs and cliques of people,” she continued.
I had earlier put in a lot of time working, so I didn’t feel like I wanted a public show of grovelling.
