Actor Jefferson Machado, who disappeared nearly four months ago, has been discovered deceased and concealed in an underground wooden trunk.
The 44-year-old, known for his role in the Brazilian soap opera Reis and his work in production and set design, was last seen on January 27 and was officially declared missing.
Machado’s mother, Maria das Dores, 73, informed local media that she had last spoken to him on January 29.
During their final conversation, the actor had informed his mother that he was staying at a friend’s place while attending a job interview.
Maria grew concerned when she received text messages filled with spelling mistakes, stating that he had dropped his phone in the toilet and was therefore unable to video call her.
Machado was ultimately discovered on Monday (May 22) when authorities searched a shed on a property in Rio and uncovered his restrained body stuffed inside a wooden trunk buried 6.5 feet beneath the structure’s floor.
The news of Jefferson’s demise was shared on Instagram by a friend, Cintia Hilsendeger, who wrote: “It is with deep sadness that we inform you that Jeff was found lifeless on 05/22/2023.
