On April 4th, Sindh Government Announces Public Holiday

According to a notification released on Thursday, the Sindh government has declared a public holiday on April 4th, 2023, in commemoration of the 44th martyrdom anniversary of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

All offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils under the administrative control of the Sindh government, with the exception of essential services, will remain closed.

Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who was born on January 5, 1928, was a seasoned politician and the founder of the Pakistan People’s Party, which is currently led by his maternal grandson, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari. After a controversial trial, Bhutto was executed on April 4, 1979, almost two years after General Ziaul Haq imposed martial law and overthrew his government.
